Your Essential FAQs
No, booking in advance offers you our best value for money admissions but you can purchase general admission tickets on the the day of racing at the turnstiles.
Please note that on our busier race days we can sell out within some enclosures and therefore to guarantee your enclosure of choice, booking in advance is always the best option.
Wetherby operates four different general enclosures. Premier, Paddock Course and Cars to Course. They all contain a different level and choice of facility with Course offering the more basic to Premier the more comprehensive. Pricing reflects the facilities and therefore the Course is our cheapest priced enclosure ticket, then Paddock and then Premier.
Once inside an enclosure you can generally pay to upgrade to the next. So you can transfer from Course to Paddock, and Paddock to Premier.

All of our general admission advance purchases are administered by E-Tickets, this includes Course, Cars to Course, Paddock and Premier Enclosure. The White Rose Bistro and Restaurant are also E-ticketed.
Your tickets will be emailed to you at the time of purchase so please check your inbox on completion of your order and also ensure your email address has been correctly input. If you cannot locate your tickets please call the office on 01937 582035.
Full entry information is included on your E-ticket, which we suggest you print out and bring with you on the day.
Any packages booked that include reserved parking permits will be posted out and a member of the hospitality team will be in touch with you to let you know when to expect them.
Absolutely not!
We have acres of FREE car parking at Wetherby which is provided free of charge. Directional parking signage is displayed and car park attendants are on hand to assist you.
Please be aware that all of our public parking is on grass. We do have a drop-off point at the turnstiles that you can use to allow passengers to alight if preferred.
If you have pre-purchased your admission please ensure you know which Enclosure you have booked for and have followed the parking instructions on your E-Ticket.
‘CARS TO COURSE’
Our ‘Cars to Course’ admission allows one car and up to 4 adults entry to the Course enclosure.
If you have pre-purchased Cars to Course Admission please check the map before arrival to ensure you know where you are heading. The Course Enclosure is situated in the middle of the Racetrack itself, and so when you come in via the main York Road Entrance, you need to turn LEFT at the top of the hill following directional signage. Everyone else will be going straight on, so it can be easy on a busy day to simply ‘follow the crowd’.
We do not allow food and drink to be taken into either the Paddock or Premier Enclosures with the exception of food and snacks for younger children and for those with specific medical conditions.
Please note: On Sunday 27th April – Family Raceday 2025, we are allowing small picnics including soft drinks only, into the Paddock Enclosure where there will be a designated picnic area. picnic blankets and folding chairs are allowed. No gazebo’s, BBQ’s, Glass or Alcohol.
You can take a full picnic including a small amount of alcohol for personal consumption into the Course / Cars to Course Enclosure. BBQ’s and Glass are not allowed.
Wetherby Racecourse offers a wide selection of places to eat and drink across the enclosures. There are numerous bars which also serve hot and cold snacks, a coffee-shop, a cafe and a restaurant, as well as on-the go food served from one of our many outdoor catering units. On our feature plus days, we offer additional marquee facilities within the Paddock for racegoers which house pop-up bars and catering areas.

As a racecourse which operates throughout the Winter months, Wetherby fully appreciates the risk that the weather can occasionally pose to a race meeting. We therefore have a full and clear abandonment policy included within our terms and conditions of booking.
Ultimately if we abandon our raceday before the gates open, anyone booking general admission or packages will receive an automatic refund of their booking less the booking fee paid.
Our full abandonment terms including abandonment after racing has started are contained in our terms and conditions.
Unfortunately not. In accordance with our terms and conditions of entry, tickets once purchased are non-refundable, non-transferable and not for resale.

Photography with mobile phones and small compact cameras is permitted on the Racecourse in all areas normally open to the public.
Racegoers entering the Racecourse grounds with a high-level camera equipment (any camera other than mobile phone or small point and shoot camera) must sign a daily photography permit, which can be obtained from the Information point at the Turnstile entrance and the Racecourse Administration office.
Flash photography is not permitted in any circumstances.
Professional and press photographers wishing to attend a race meeting must contact the Racecourse for accreditation prior to arrival.

Please be advised that our entry turnstiles do not accept cash and admission on the day is by card-payment only.
Cash is accepted in all other areas of the Racecourse.
There are cash machine facilities within the Bramham Hall and Level 2 foyer of the Millennium Stand. There is no cash machine facility within the course enclosure.
Tote kiosks offer a ‘Cash-Back’ service when placing bets.
For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed into any of the enclosures on race days with the exception of assistance dogs.
On non-racedays we allow dog walkers to exercise their pets within the Racecourse grounds, but would ask that you respect the privacy of the enclosure areas and racetrack itself, you keep your dog under control and you pick up after your dog.
Equidistant between Leeds, York and Harrogate, Wetherby Racecourse is conveniently situated, just minutes from the A1 and with close links to the M1 and M62.

Wetherby operates a FREE shuttle bus service between Wetherby Town Centre and the Racecourse that we operate on our Feature and Feature Plus racedays only, more information is provided on our How To Find Us page.
We feel life is too short to worry about what to wear and therefore we do not operate a formal dress code in any of our enclosures.
For those that prefer a steer, then smart casual attire is the way ahead and as we operate mostly throughout the winter months, dressing appropriately for the weather is key to enjoying your day at Wetherby.
Some of our raceday events are themed and where so, we really appreciate it when our racegoers join in!
Wear A Hat day in March supports Brain Tumour Research and we encourage racegoers to all don a hat for the day.
Our Peak Cap and Pearls Raceday in November, has racegoers attending in the style of the Peaky Blinders, whilst Ladies’ Evening in June is a day when we see a bit of glamour at Wetherby as the bobble hats are replaced with fascinators.
Yes of course, Wetherby is a family-friendly Racecourse, and even on a quiet raceday there is always lots going on for families with children to see and do and accompanied under 18’s are admitted totally free of charge into the general enclosures!
We also have specific days within our racing calendar which we promote as child-friendly as we have provided additional family-style entertainment.
All of our enclosures have baby-change facilities provided and high-chairs are available within our cafes and restaurants.
We have a dedicated Parenting Room within the Paddock Enclosure which provides a quiet space to feed and change babies and toddlers.
PARKING
parking for blue badge holders is provided immediately adjacent to the main entrance for those using the Premier or Paddock Enclosures.
We have a drop off point directly outside the turnstile building and we operate a ‘golf-buggy’ shuttle service into the enclosures from the turnstiles for those with mobility issues. Just speak to a steward at the turnstiles who will call it for your use.
FACILITIES
All of our Enclosures offer ground floor suites with accessible entry doors, and lifts are available to access higher floors.
Toilet facilities for racegoers with disability are also available within all of our enclosures.

First race times vary, and for the majority of our fixtures, the gates and all facilities open 2 1/2 hours in advance of the first race. However, we may open earlier for busy fixtures. We will never open before 10.00am

Our bars in the Paddock Enclosure close 30 minutes after the last race, whilst bars in the Premier Enclosure close 1hr after the last race.
The Racecourse Administration Office is open during normal office hours, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. On Racedays we offer a limited office service.
To assist compliance with the Health Act 2006, it is against the law to smoke inside any facility or Grandstand within Wetherby Racecourse and where you see the Non-Smoking signs. Smoking is also not permitted on hospitality and bar balconies.
We also do not allow vaping in these same areas.
Smoking is permitted in all other outside areas.
Those partaking of tobacco products are requested to use the smoking receptacles provided.
When smoking on-course, please be considerate of those around you.
A Race Card or Race Programme is the essential guide for the day’s events and provides details of all the ‘runners and riders’.
The Race Card also contains useful information, adverts and articles.
Race Cards are available to purchase from the following locations:
- The Main Turnstile – Paddock and Premier ‘On the day’ sales positions
- The Information Point within the Paddock Enclosure
- Tote sales point within the Centre of Course Enclosure.
The price for a Racecard sold on the day is currently £2.00
Advance ticket purchases of either Premier or Paddock Enclosure now include a complimentary racecard which you can collect on entry.
The Raceday Ready App
For those of you that might prefer a paperless racecard on the day, download to your phone the FREE Raceday Ready App available on the Google Play and App Store.
This will provide you with Wetherby’s runners and riders, and keep you up to date with non-runners on the day, and also contains useful on-the-go information, competitions and offers. The app also provides raceday information for all UK Racecourses so is a handy app for those that race regularly.
Parking for coaches is provided within the Racecourse grounds. Coaches are able to drop-off and pick-up at designated points close to the main turnstile entrances.
Complimentary Paddock admission will be provided for coach drivers who present their Driver’s Manifest/Worksheet to the main turnstile. (Only one complimentary admission per coach).
